Hello there!
As I am closing in on my last semesters at The University of Akron I am considering professional job opportunities in dance. As I am researching auditions, and choreographic festivals I have found one site particularly helpful. It is called contemporary performance, and the site lists national and international opportunities for everything from dance companies, to virtual art shows. Besides the resource of finding possible jobs, the site allows me to see events that are happening in the dance community.
Another resource I have been finding extremely helpful is danceusa. This is the site that most emerging dance artists use as they try to find auditions in their city. You can apply for paid positions through the site and become a member to receive notifications and save job listings. Through the site you can also sign up for the Dance USA bulletin, a free newsletter covering current events in the industry and job opportunities.
Anyways, those are a few sites I have been using to research my future plans. Even if you are not a dancer, I am sure there are similar websites for other artistic forms that may have a non-traditional hiring process.
That’s all for now!
